Nuage?

KKK and Anonymous vs. Westboro Baptist Church

Social Media Revolution 3 (4:15 version via Erik Qualman)

Social media is far from new age. The pun in the word nuage might be read as new-age. If you thought that, good. That is the intended effect. The word actually means cloud in French. Cloud is a buzzword that is tired, it’s used so often in business communications, branding and marketing that by now it’s almost laughably pervasive. But the cloud isn’t going anywhere. Social media is not dead. Not by a long-shot.

I have entitled this blog nuage culture, with an interest to bring a little bit of humor and humbleness to the conversation around social technology, technology and community.

The problem of the digital divide continues to create a knowledge gap between the experts in the digital realm and the masses. At least, this is what I see in my personal life, when topics like Instagram’s Terms of Service change, or when the conversation about Anonymous taking on the Westboro Baptist Church triggers confused reactions about hacking-for-a-cause.

I’m also creating this blog because I’m looking to test out the features that WordPress.com offers versus self-hosted WordPress.

Well, there you have it. Thanks for visiting. See you around.
